The Wise County
Law Enforcement Explorer Post is a program sponsored by the
Wise County Constable's Office Pct 4, Wise
County Sheriff's Office and the Runaway Bay Department
of Public Safety. Exploring is a part of the Boy Scouts of
America, which involves young men and women ages 14 through 20. This
program is designed to involve and educate young adults in the career
field of law enforcement. Explorers learn about law enforcement through
hands-on training as well as direct observation of daily operations with
officers of the participating agencies.
Meetings
Meetings are held on
a monthly basis at various locations. Each meeting normally consists of a short business meeting,
followed by a training topic. Guests (and parents) are always welcome.
Explorers who meet attendance, age, and
training requirements are allowed to ride and observe with officers
on patrol, assist with security details
at public events, and other law enforcement related
functions. Explorers also compete in area competitions, take
educational field trips, and go on camping trips.
